Reva Systems is about to come out of stealth mode and share its vision for ensuring that RFID traffic doesn’t overwhelm corporate networks.
While the company has been mum during its first year of existence, it is believed to be building LAN appliances that work with RFID tag readers. Company executives plan to reveal the company’s strategy this week, followed by product news later on.
RFID is a wireless-enabled technology increasingly being used by retailers and others to track inventories and other assets. Reva staffers have been active on the standards scene related to bringing IP network-based RFID operations into the IETF standardization process.
Reva, based in Chelmsford, Mass., is led by a group of industry veterans including Ashley Stephenson (former CEO of Xedia, which was acquired by Lucent); David Husak, former CTO and co-founder of C-Port; and Mike Grady, former CEO and co-founder of Argon Networks.
The company is being funded by Charles River Ventures and North Bridge Venture Partners.
